Why an Album?
The day has come, you've booked the session with your favorite family photographer. You've bought outfits for the kids, and they are absolutely looking their best. No chocolate smudges on their faces and for once their hair is brushed. It’s a miracle and mama you’re feeling good about it. You've gotten your hair done, you've done your make up and even your husband is looking his best.
You all get in the car and travel to your family session. Your favorite family photographer easily makes the kids laugh and smile and even hug each other, something we as moms don't see happen very often. The session goes spectacular. You get in the car and go home and just ride this magical high all the way home.
Your kids and your family are the most important thing in your life, and you're one of those people to take the time and find the value in documenting these moments and images for years to remember them by. As a mom you understand better than anyone that the days are long and the years are short.
You eagerly await the reveal of your photos and when you finally get a chance to see them you fall instantly in love. They are all you could ever hope for in photos that document your family and the love that you see every day. And now comes a decision time, how are you going to display these photos? How are you going to remember these moments by?
Too many times in our modern society digital images are thrown up on a computer screen for likes and comments and man does it feel good to share these moments with our friends and family that we love so much, it truly does. But if we're being honest with our self, we know that those likes and comments and that short time those images stay present on people's screens is not the most important part of getting family photos. So, then what is the most important thing to do with these images?
I want to take you back to a time when you were young, a time before the Internet, and if not before the Internet it was probably just getting started. Do you remember going to your grandma's house and finding that box with the albums in it? Do you remember pulling out the albums and flipping through them? They brought back this nostalgia for a time that was past that you can't go back to. There was your mom and outfits from the 70s that you had a good laugh about. Pictures of your grandma when she was young that made you wonder if you looked like her, and pictures of your grandpa that made you realize just how handsome he was.
No, I'm not saying the pictures on your wall and beautiful acrylics and framed canvases are not absolutely important. Because they truly are and that's another story for another day, but albums, they stand the test of time. We pull them out over and over and over again. Our kids go through them and laugh, show their friends and show their family that come over to visit. As the kids get older and leave the house and start to have kids of their own, they come home to visit grandma's house and you have albums to show them of yearly photos of their mom or dad as kids. You can't show them those photos in phones that are lost, dead or obsolete. You can't show them those photos in computers that have crashed. But you can give them and yourself the gift of an album.
There is absolutely nothing like a leather-bound fine art album to hold your memories from that special family photo session that you planned. Your family was dressed to the nines looking their absolute best, you as a mom felt your best, and the smiles and laughter your family photographer captured absolutely deserve to be on display forever for generations to enjoy. That's why I always believe that every family deserves an album to cherish!
