A Perfect Storm
Chad and his mom and dad showed up to the studio after a long drive from Tomah. Which for a baby, is the perfect time to nap. As you can imagine, that meant that when they got to my studio it was the perfect time to be awake!
The Awake Baby
Our wide-awake little Chad James gave me a run for my money, we attempted froggy and all the typical naked baby poses for well over 2 hours. With breaks for nursing and diaper changes and burping, he still was refusing to settle into any poses and wanted nothing to do with them. And that's ok because babies march to the beat of their own drum. So, we decided to wrap him up and move on to the wrapped poses. We started with dad's favorite. They brought their own little baby yoda hat and we started with an egg wrap.
This dark green backdrop, beautiful natural brown bowl, and thick arm knitted stuffer made by my sister for me were the perfect addition to complement his little Yoda hat.
No Baby Can Resist
After a go with the green and the egg wrap and little Chad James fighting sleep, it was time to try a full wrap to attempt to get him nodding off and dreaming. The perfect setup was a little potato wrap of yellow. Newborns, fresh from their mamas tummies love to feel as safe and warm as they did just a few weeks before and generally there is no fighting a good swaddle. This is 3 separate swaddles to get him nice and tight, and squishy and round.
Before
After
He was the perfect little yellow potato and the magic worked; we had a sleeping baby! Perfect time to move on to our next drop of a beautiful teal and change his outer wrap color to a soft teal as well. Laying a fuzzy teal over him we created that beautiful image you see at the top and the fastest photo of the whole day. We did it, a sleeping baby! Success!
3 Hours and Counting
With a sleeping baby we were going to attempt an unwrap and go back to the naked baby poses he absolutely did not want to try at the beginning of the session (which is ok, I work on baby time and no one else's). Whew, was that a mistake he quickly told us that he would not stay asleep unwrapped and wanted nothing to do with the table poses thank you. No worries, we wrapped him back up and sent him off to dream land to wrap up the session. I couldn't resist this little bear hat and matching bear and so with a little wrapped baby it was time to use them. He finished his session a champion and I couldn't be more pleased with what we were able to accomplish even if naked baby poses were not on his agenda for the day.
