Why Photography?
Good Morning! As I write this I’m just finishing up drinking my coffee and sitting quietly enjoying the morning hours before my home buzzes to life. All my moms and dads out there can appreciate that moment I’m certain of it. It’s the time we set our plans for the day and the time we grab all of our energy and motivation to tackle our day with our kids, house, work and all that entails! However, this morning has been slightly different. I am sitting reading a book created for small business owners called “Called to Create” written by Jordan Raynor, and as I read this, I have the absolute push to sit down and let all my families, seniors, and couples who land on this page the reason behind my photography business. Why photography in a world that screams, work is important, do more, make a name for yourself, create as much income as you can. Well, the answer is so simple and it became clear to me as I was reading the book that I may not have made it as clear as I would like across my page as I’m detailing sessions and prices and galleries and all the things.
Photography has given me the ability to use my gifts I’ve been given to create images for people (seniors, families and couples getting married) who value their love of each other and the gift that it is to have that love above the busyness of the world and what it tells us to value! See people who spend their hard-earned money on beautiful images for their walls value displaying that love. They see it as the central core to who they are and find value in displaying it for all who enter their home to clearly see. They are proud of their kids, their spouses and the love and home they’ve created and they want to display it for all to see. That is no easy feat to accomplish when you lay that extraordinary task at your photographers feet, but my prayer is always that I can capture for my clients exactly that!
For my families, I capture the laughter of their children that sometimes we don’t see through the tantrums or teen years. I capture their best selves, displaying the love and absolute gift that is their family (guys despite all the messiness and brokenness that is this world, your family is yours and that can be the true gift in your life even in the tears).
For my seniors, I capture the beauty, grace and boldness that is this section in their lives. Seniors are ending this journey of school and getting ready to enter the world with big dreams and high hopes. They are our future creators, engineers, and leaders and this time couldn’t be more awe inspiring. My photos, it is always my prayer, captures this moment in time for their parents to look back on with fondness. To remember their stubbornness, their grit, and their wild love for their dreams that has not yet been tarnished by this world. Yes senior pictures are more than just photos, they are memories captured in time of when your child was changing from the child you once knew to the adult who you are yet to meet!
And finally for my couples, I capture their love, their wild, amazing, passion that spills from their being to cover their significant other that you can see in the way they look at each other, the way they gently hold each other and the way they laugh with each other like the world could burn around them and they would be ok.
So why photography? Because, I was called to create and to share my gifts with my clients. And because I want nothing more than for you to truly remember this time in your lives.
Many Blessings,
Lisa

Katherine - You're a truly amazing person! And the photos and memories you create are endlessly wonderful! We, as clients, not only get to treasure the photos you create for us, but also the memories that come along with that entire shoot. I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful photographer, who puts her all into her work, and is also such an amazing woman! 💜
